How to Get Alpha Updates

Join the alpha program to receive early access to new features and improvements on your Chastity Lockbox

Alpha updates give you early access to new features before they reach general availability. This includes experimental functionality and upcoming production features that have been tested but benefit from real-world feedback.

You must have version 1.17.9 or later installed on your device to enroll in the alpha program.

How to enroll in alpha

Ensure your device is ready

Connect your Chastity Lockbox to Wi-Fi and ensure it's charged. Verify you're running version 1.17.9 or later.

Navigate to settings

On your device, go to Settings and scroll down to find the Enroll in Alpha option.

If you don't see this option, update your device first using Settings > Update Device.

Complete enrollment

Select Enroll in Alpha, review the information, and tap Enroll. Your device will reboot to apply the changes.

Verify enrollment

After reboot, you'll see "alpha" displayed in the version code at the top of your screen. The device will automatically check for alpha updates when connected to the internet.

What to expect

  • Early access: Receive new features before the general release
  • Tested functionality: All alpha releases are functional and tested, though they may contain minor issues
  • Automatic updates: Your device will check for alpha updates automatically when connected to Wi-Fi

If you encounter any bugs or issues with an alpha release, please contact us at support@researchanddesire.com so we can address them before the production release.

Leaving the alpha program

If you want to return to stable firmware releases, use the web flasher to reinstall the production firmware.

Connect your device

Plug your Lockbox into your computer using a USB-C data cable.

Open the web flasher

Navigate to the web flasher in Chrome or another Chromium-based browser.

Flash stable firmware

Click Connect, select your device, and complete the flash process. Do not check "Erase device" to preserve your settings.

The web flasher always installs the latest stable release, which removes your device from the alpha program.

Verify the change

After the flash completes, your device restarts. The version displayed on the screen will no longer show "alpha" in the version code.

Troubleshooting alpha issues

If you experience unusual behavior while on alpha firmware — such as the dashboard showing your device as offline when it appears connected, or lock sessions stuck in a pending state — see the connectivity troubleshooting guide for step-by-step instructions.
